The village of Luba is on the east coast of the island of Bioko, Equatorial Guinea. Beaula met an orphan called Rivaldo at the orphanage.

Beaula McCalla is an Afrikan-Caribbean Briton, who traced her blood relatives: the Bubi people, of Bioko Island.

Equatorial Guinea was a former Spanish colony.
