British treaty with Jamaican maroons
Pacification with the Maroon Negroes, by Agostino Brunyas, 1801. This picture is a representation of the Maroons, who were escaped slaves living in freedom in the Caribbean. On Jamaica the Maroons fought to keep their freedom for many years. They were never defeated, and eventually a peace agreement was made between them and the British authorities.
