The London Based Royal Africa Company
Below King Charles' neck on this five guinea coin is an elephant with a castle on its back. This is the 'logo' of the Royal African Company. The Company was set up to have control over the British trade with Africa. This coin was named the 'guinea' after the coast of Guinea in West Africa, as so much gold came from there. This area was very involved in trade with Britain.
