News of a the Etireno ship carrying child slaves from Benin, Mali and Togo to work in Gabon draws public attention to the extent of child trafficking
The Protocol for the Growing and Processing of Cocoa Beans and Their Derivative Products was signed between the international chocolate industries and Non-Governmental Organisations (research by NGOs showed that the cocoa industry 'employed' - and trafficked children, who thereby lost the chance of going to school and were expected to do dangerous work)
